Our Classic Blend olive mix is a combination of green pitted olives, pitted kalamata olives, bell & loxton original rapeseed oil, lemon juice, thyme and parsley.
The pitted green olives used in this blend are Mammoth Halkidiki olives which are large, pale green olives with a very succulent, fresh flavour. Green Halkidiki olives are oval in shape and notoriously massive in size, the stones are removed by hand making them easier to eat. All Halkidiki olives are grown exclusively in the Halkidiki region in Greece, next to Mount Athos and the traditional harvest time is October.
Jumbo Kalamata olives are added to this blend at a weight ratio of 1:2 with the green olives. They are referred to as ‘black olives’ but in reality are deep purple in colour and are saltier in taste than the green. These small pitted black olives are grown in a Valley called Messina, next to the town ‘Kalamata’, which is also in Greece and are harvested in December.
We partially desalinate our classic blend olives to take away the harshness of the salt but leave enough salt in the olive to maintain that famous flavour. As aforementioned, the Kalamata pitted olive, is saltier in flavour than the pitted green Halkidiki olive.
The local rapeseed oil used in this olive blend is from a farm in South Devon called Bell & Loxton. This oil not only adds flavour to our olives, it also plays a part in how we are able to add so much shelf life to the olives. Despite this help, the primary way we add shelf life is by gas flushing our pouches at production. The gas we add to our products does nothing to affect the flavour or integrity of the olive, but it does allow us to store them ambiently (not in the fridge) for up to 6 months and this helps us eliminate waste.
This olive mix is also an award winner. It won Gold in the Taste of the West, South West food awards, so you know the blend your buying is very high quality.
Delivery is completely FREE in the UK. We ship all orders next working day using Royal Mail 48hr courier. Orders of 3 packs or less will be posted via Large Letter, orders of 4 or more will be sent via Royal Mail’s Parcel Service. Our olives are able to be stored out of the fridge for over 2 months. They travel well and will arrive to you in perfect condition, ready to eat.
Please contact us directly if there is a problem with your order and we will do everything we can to rectify it. We do not accept returns if you change your mind, however if there is something wrong with the product, we will put it right.
Our olives by post are gas flushed, giving them a minimum of 6 months shelf life, and that's out of the fridge! Your olives will be as fresh in half a year as they were when we produced them!
